Black and white because color is too much. Too bright, too busy, too beautiful. Black and white because I like to remember the gray areas. Because there is no black and white.
I’m a black and white photographer.I take self portraits and portraits of others. I like to blend imagery of the body with icons that humanize the body’s experience.
I’m diagnosed with ADHD and autism. Other mediums feel too slow, overwhelming, and unsustainable. Photography allows me to open windows that allow others to step into my experience. Photography has taught me about the power of empathy. It’s taught me how to look at myself and love who’s there.
My camera works like a comb through the stories of my life. It enters into a tangle and works its way through to the end. Every hair, a different problem solved. The hair gets longer-my stories intertwine. These stories and the people who inhabit them will inspire my work indefinitely.
